Dr. Scott Williams, Program Director
Dr. Williams brings more than three decades of experience in diagnostic radiology, medical education, and leadership to the Diagnostic Radiology Residency Program at St. Vincent's Medical Center. A graduate of the United States Military Academy at West Point, he received his medical degree from the George Washington University School of Medicine. He subsequently completed an Internal Medicine internship at Madigan Army Medical Center, followed by a Diagnostic Radiology residency and Nuclear Medicine fellowship at Walter Reed Army Medical Center.
Throughout his career, Dr. Williams has served in a variety of clinical, academic and leadership positions across military medicine, private practice and academic radiology. During his military service, he served as the Chief of Thoracic Imaging at Madigan Army Medical Center and Walter Reed Army Medical Center.
After transitioning to Connecticut, Dr. Williams became a partner with Advanced Radiology Consultants and served for more than two decades as Section Chief of Nuclear Medicine at Bridgeport Hospital. He also serves as the Associate Program Director of the Bridgeport Hospital Diagnostic Radiology Residency Program from 2014 to 2022. He most recently served as Assistant Professor of Radiology in the Thoracic Imaging Section at Montefiore Medical Center before returning to St. Vincent's as Program Director in 2025.
Board certified in both Diagnostic Radiology and Nuclear Medicine, Dr. Williams is dedicated to developing the next generation of radiologists through mentorship, clinical excellence and innovative education. His passion for education, combined with his broad experience across academic, military and private-practice settings, provides residents with a unique perspective as they prepare for successful careers in diagnostic radiology.
Today, as Program Director of the Diagnostic Radiology Residency Program at St. Vincent's Medical Center, Dr. Williams is committed to fostering a collaborative learning environment that emphasizes clinical excellence, professionalism, lifelong learning and compassionate patient care while preparing residents for board certification, fellowship training and independent practice.
